In this class Jo will cover the basics of free-motion machine quilting. You will learn how to use a darning foot to do free motion quilting. You will learn several methods to mark a quilt and how to use pre-cut stencils and tissue paper. Jo will discuss the use of various types of thread, needles and batting. What are you waiting for? I think the only thing better than receiving a lovingly, handmade quilt is giving one!  If you like to sew but have yet to try your hand at quilt making, now is the time!  Learn accurate and safe rotary cutting, color value, pressing vs. ironing, accurate 1/4” seam allowance and other quilt-piecing-basics in this two-part class at Two Thimbles Quilt Shop in Bellingham. Learn to "paint with thread" by using this pre-printed panel of cardinals in a snowy landscape. You will learn what threads to use to enhance this scene with free-motion quilting.

We have started a second round this Block of the Month class of the Full Bloom pattern at Kori's Fabric Creations. This is a beautiful quilt! It employs the "edge-color" applique technique. It's easy, it's fun, and you can be as sloppy as you like with your free-motion "coloring".  It’s not too late to start, but you must begin in April in order to catch up and keep up. In this class you will learn how to create a design with just thread on a single piece of plain fabric. You will learn how to create a good design and the techniques to make it pop off the fabric. We will discuss fabric choice, batting, thread, marking, and technique.

This class is appropriate for a confident beginner to intermediate quilter motivated to do machine quilting. You will be making one of the two Sunflower quilts Jo's designed, but will discuss the use of stencils and ideas for making your own design.

Pre-requisite: You must have taken Jo's beginning free-motion class, OR equivalent, OR feel comfortable with free-motion quilting and your sewing machine.
